Shambhala Night

Weekly, each Thursday

From 7:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

The Christchurch Shambhala group that meets on Thursday nights is part of Shambhala International, a worldwide community of meditation centres founded by meditation master Vidyadhara Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and led today by his son Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.

Their teachings bring together three streams of wisdom:

  • the Kagyu and Nyingma teachings of Tibetan Buddhism

  • the wisdom teachings of Shambhala

For more information about the source of the teachings click here.

The meditation session consists of 20 minutes sitting, 10 minutes walking, and 20 minutes sitting again.

This is followed by either short video clips, a presentation from someone in the group or a reading and a discussion.
